Siblings can be overlooked as parent(s) cope with the effects of special needs (ADHD/ADD, Autism, Aspergers , ODD, OCD, Anxiety)  grades, behavior, social skills, and education.  Sibling relationships are important to a child's overall social development and influence socialization with peers outside of the home environment.  They may resent how little time and attention they get from their parent(s) who are overwhelmed and exhausted dealing with the demands of their brother or sister.

Life at home can be chaotic for siblings who report feeling victimized by unpredictable behaviors as they are an easy target due to their parent(s) being too tired to address conflicts between both parties. Resentment builds when your non – ADHD/ADD/LD siblings feel like they don't get the same incentives, rewards, and leniency of rules as compared to their brother or sister. Some cope by becoming the "good child" and work extra hard to please their parent(s) and to not cause them any added grief. 

Many won't ask for help even when they need it.  To receive attention (positive or negative) they may work too hard at being "perfect" or behave poorly. The good news is these situations can be improved by educating siblings and teaching them coping techniques for a better relationship, resulting in less tension in your home.
